HAWK

I grit my teeth as I take a turn at a much higher speed than I need to. It causes Veronica to hold on tighter to me and I immediately regret it. I’m counting down the minutes until I can get her off the back of my bike. The only one I want riding bitch on my bike is Banner.

Avoiding Veronica’s hands is becoming hazardous to my health. When I lean over just a little bit too much to one side, the bike leans and I have to fight to straighten it on the road. Her hand comes into contact with my jeans-covered crotch.

“Stop it!” I yell behind me.

“Why? You know it was good with us,” she hollers, trying to be heard over the rush of the wind.

Grabbing her hand, I place it higher up on my stomach. “Keep it up there or your ass can walk. Do you understand me?”

She stiffens against my body, obviously not happy with my refusing her advances. Knowing that she is still a few miles from home, she decides to behave herself. Within minutes we pull into her driveway, and before the bike even comes to a stop, she is off the back and all but throwing the helmet at me.

“Hey!” I yell, my voice harsh. “Turn around and look at me, Veronica. I’m only gonna say this shit to you once.”

She does as I ask, but with all kinds of attitude. Her hand is placed on her jutted hip and she rocks back and forth on the stiletto heel of the boots she wears. The expression on her face screams bored, but I can tell by the quivering of her lips that she is actually just a little bit scared of me.

“Stay the fuck away from me. I don’t care how good you thought it was the couple of times we did the deed. And to be honest with you – it wasn’t on my part. You were just a willing body to make me forget the one I really want.”

“I’m not stupid, ya know?” She throws the words back at me with such force that if I were a weaker man, I would have fallen.

“Never said you were,” I yell back.

She crosses her arms over her chest, her green eyes glittering. To any other man, I’m sure she’s the epitome of gorgeous… or at least a quick lay. I’m glad that I finally saw through all of that – finally strong enough to know better.

“What I’m sayin’ to you is that I know what happened between you and Banner. How do you think her daddy and brother would like hearing about it?” she threatens, a small smile on her face.

“I think you don’t even wanna go there. You’ll be sorry you ever opened your mouth, much less your legs to me.” I want to either break her in half or smack her smart mouth.

What happened between me and Banner is our business, and I won’t have this bitch hanging it over our heads.
